Puerto Rican rock has greatly been influenced by American rock music with groups such as Alarma and Circo gaining commercial success.
Circo formed in 2001 with 5 members and have since been nominated for Latin Grammy Awards in 2002 and 2005. To date they have produced 4 albums.

El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, also known as El Gran Combo, is a Puerto Rican Salsa music orchestra. El Gran is Puerto Rico’s most successful musical group, and one of Salsa’s most famous groups acorss Latin America. El Gran Combo was founded by Rafael Ithier in May 1962 and he is still the orchestra’s pianist and musical director. The group is currently promoting their latest album, Arroz con Habichuela.
